Frequently Asked Questions
If they really are frequently asked, I put them here, alongside the other questions I think you might have ..

It only shows pre-order - why?
The first version of this kit was very simple and worked well for owners of early cars (pre 2022) who wanted more noise all the time. However, it didn't work for some cars produced after 2022 or for anyone who wanted a bit more control over when the car was noisy and when it was quiet. The first version of the kit is no longer being sold and the new version is currently in development (January 2025). At this time, i'm taking preorders for the kit which are fully refundable (just email me if you want to leave the queue and get your money back) but will reserve you a place in the queue for automatic shipment when the kit is ready.

Isn't this just the same as pressing the PSE button on the dash?
No - the PSE system includes an exhaust flap which may be closed even when the PSE button is pressed. Your car chooses whether to open the flap (and make more noise) depending on a bunch of parameters. At full throttle, high revs, etc. the flap is open. At idle, it's virtually closed. Driving around town, it's closed.
-
How does the sound compare to PSE?
At high revs/full throttle, the sound is identical as, with or without this kit, the valve is open. The biggest difference is at idle and slower speeds around town - the car is throatier and there are more pops and bangs (even when in non-sport mode). However, on a trailing/closed throttle, the car remains very quiet.
-
How does it work - how can you make more noise without an aftermarket exhaust?
Some cars use a vacuum pipe to control exhaust valves, the 992 controls them electronically - this mod ensures that the valve can stay open without causing errors on the dashboard. The 992 controls the exhaust sound at different rev levels, engine loads and modes by opening and closing a flap in the exhaust.
-
Does this mod work with the non-PSE exhaust?
The configuration, flap setup and wiring is identical between PSE and non-PSE exhausts so you will also see a change in the sound of the vehicle with this modification.
-
How can I be sure this will leave no trace when removed?
The kit intercepts messages sent from the computer to the exhaust flaps; when you remove the kit, the car is totally reverted back to standard.
-
Does the kit come with instructions?
Yes, click the link for the installation guide below. The main challenge is locating the existing connectors to unplug which are under the rear bumper, just near the exhaust tailpipes. Once located, it is a one-handed job to unplug them.

Why isn't it cheaper?
The 'version 2' of the kit, developed in the second half of 2024 and into 2025 consumed most of my weekends and I spent a lot of money buying electronic devices to decode the messages, components to use in the kit and of course on the design and manufacturing of the kit. Add in raw material costs and some moderate profit on top and I believe the kit still comes in significantly lower than some other devices, certainly a new fabricated exhaust!
-
Why isn't it more expensive?
More than one person gave me feedback with version 1 that it was too cheap! I really appreciate the feedback but it's just a box which overrides the built-in exhaust flap. Why should it cost any more? I'm covering the raw material costs, plus the hundreds of dollars i've spent on R&D, and then i've added in some profit which I think is reasonable. The last thing I want is unhappy customers and I think i'd be unhappy paying any more for this ...
-
Couldn't I just make it myself?
As with many products, they aren't rocket science. You just need some time, patience, money and a few tools which might cost you a lot more than one kit. I won't share what i've invested already but i'm telling myself that the tools will be useful for other stuff ;-)
-
Who are you?
Just a 992 owner a bit grumpy that his 'sports' exhaust was only sporty occasionally and who didn't want to modify his ECU or spend thousands on a new exhaust.
-
What if it doesn't work?
I don't have access to all the 992 variants and combinations of configurations so it's possible it won't work for your car. In this case, i'll refund you. This isn't my day job, so there's no reason for me to try and fleece you out of a few quid! I'll ask for the kit to be sent back and i'll refund you for the cost of the kit plus the standard postage/packaging you paid when you bought it. You'll be out of pocket only for the original cost of the postage. Note that if the kit is working but you're not happy with the change in sound, I can't refund this. It's a cheap kit, it's working. If you don't like it, remove it!

How long will it take to deliver?
Version 1 kits were hand-made to order and tended to be built and delivered within 10 days. The version 2 kits (the ones for sale now) will be manufactured by professionals and i'll simply assemble and test. To start with, i'd suggest a similar turnaround time but once I have a few orders under my belt i'd like to have some stock 'on the shelf' which can be shipped immediately.

Do you ship to .. ?
Check with me first if you aren't in the US, Europe or India. Shipping to the US seems to work well even though there seems to be a customs hold (missing docs) for a day no matter what docs I include! India is the most painful so far - shipping is nearly 2x the cost to the US and there may be an additional clearance fee to pay locally. UK and Europe no problems.
